Another busy and rewarding week here on campus, with a welcome cool change in temperature that has certainly been enjoyed by many students—and myself included! It was a real pleasure to spend some time in the Primary classroom this week, seeing the energy and engagement firsthand, as well as attending the Year 10 Driver Awareness Workshop, which provided valuable learning for our students.

It continues to be exciting to watch the CMP project unfold each day, with visible progress and momentum building across the site. There is a real sense of anticipation as we see things come together.

It was wonderful to launch our Primary OSGAWare Workshops this week—something I have the privilege of teaching. The students were highly engaged and showed great enthusiasm in their participation, bringing the sessions to life.

Can you guess the range of emotions on display? From excitement and curiosity to deep thinking and joy, it was fantastic to see our students so connected and invested in their learning.

If your child is bringing lunch to be warmed in the pie warmer, please ensure it is sent in a small foil container or a small paper plate.

While we are located in the temporary school, we are limited to one fridge and one microwave. The staff room, where students’ lunches are stored for keeping cold or warming, is a very small space. At present, the microwave is reserved for staff use, as student use during this time significantly impacts staff members’ ability to have their lunch break.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we manage within these temporary facilities.

To ensure student safety, please note that students should not arrive on campus before 8:50 am. Staff supervision begins at 8:50 am and continues until 9:00 am.

Students will be allowed to enter classrooms at 9:00 am. The only exception is on rainy days, when students will be sent inside earlier.

All students should have received all their uniforms, and alterations made by now as we are expecting students to be wearing the correct full school uniform including; socks, ties, belts shoes and hair accessories for girls.

During Science, we have been exploring the concept of matter, with a focus on solids, liquids and gases. Students have participated in a range of hands-on experiments to deepen their understanding of how different materials behave. These included the exciting Coke and Mentos investigation, creating bottle rockets using Vitamin C tablets, constructing a colourful rainbow jar to explore density, and comparing liquids to observe differences in viscosity. These practical experiences have helped students develop their scientific thinking and build a clearer understanding of the properties of matter.

Our students have been busy investigating all things gases in Science, and last week they took part in a hands-on experiment to create a class mini rocket. It was certainly an experience they will remember for a long time!

Without giving too much away, the experiment took an unexpected (and very amusing) turn, ending with me being covered in Berocca! Thankfully, there were plenty of laughs and no injuries—just a memorable moment that brought the learning to life in a fun and engaging way.

I’m sure many of your children came home eager to share the story, but if not, be sure to ask them about it!

Our Primary Athletics Carnival, held at WA Athletics Stadium on Wednesday 20th May, was a fantastic success. Blessed with lovely weather, students enjoyed a full day of activity in excellent conditions.

It was wonderful to see such awesome participation across all year levels, with students demonstrating outstanding enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the day. The level of competition was high, with many impressive performances on display.

We were also grateful for the fantastic support from parents, whose encouragement helped create a positive and energetic atmosphere.

Well done to the Lions for earning the most points at the primary event.

Overall, it was a memorable event that showcased the spirit, effort, and teamwork of our primary school community.

Last week, students proudly brought in the mini museums they had been thoughtfully creating at home. They were required to design an exhibit that highlighted the importance of Australian history. Each display needed to demonstrate historical relevance, clearly explain the significance of the chosen event, and engage visitors by helping them learn something new. The level of effort and creativity shown by the students was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see their understanding brought to life.

It was wonderful to see the incredible entries in the Lego Mini Museum Competition and the evident effort and care that went into each one. I truly enjoyed listening to the students share what they had learned about their chosen Australian event—it was clear how much thought and pride they had put into their work.

Miss Mackay and I had the privilege of judging the entries, and we are delighted to share that the winning projects from the Dalwallinu campus have now been submitted to be judged alongside other entries from across Australia. We are very proud of all our students who participated. Watch this space for the results of the competition shortly.
