Hello everyone and welcome to this edition of the newsletter.
It sounds like many families enjoyed a well-earned break, with plenty of visitors to keep everyone busy. As is often the case, we have returned to school without easing in, but instead have hit the ground running. Those who enjoy the colder weather are certainly in their element at the moment!
Yesterday, Mrs Buckland and I accompanied our Year 7, 9 and 11 students to Leeton for the OSG Aware program. This initiative is designed to build student confidence and awareness around Child Safe issues. We were very appreciative of Leeton hosting the event and the opportunity to connect with students from Wagga and Albury. The day ran smoothly, and our Condobolin students are to be commended for the manner in which they conducted themselves.
In a fortnight, we will return to Leeton as a whole school to participate in Mission Nutrition. This is a new initiative from OSG and, from what I have seen so far, it promises to be both informative and enjoyable. Information has been shared with families, and I would encourage you to take some time to review it and support us in building a positive and engaging experience for all students.
It was also wonderful to welcome mothers and grandmothers to our Mother’s Day morning tea, even if the weather was a little brisk. While the event is traditionally associated with Primary, I would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to all mothers and grandmothers in our community. Your ongoing support of the school and the children in our care is greatly valued. I hope you enjoy a well-deserved celebration this Sunday.
On the topic of appreciation, last Friday we recognised Administration Day. Condobolin is very fortunate to have Mrs Debbie Black leading our front office. Debbie consistently manages a wide range of responsibilities with professionalism and care, supports our students, and plays a key role in the smooth operation of our campus. We are extremely grateful for her contribution.
Without going into too much detail, staff have recently noticed an increase in the need to remind some students about the small behaviours that allow everyone to learn effectively. Our behaviour policy refers to these as “repeat minor indiscretions.” While we always aim for students to self-manage, this has not been as consistent as we would like. Even small improvements in this area will have a significant positive impact across the campus.
Parents will soon have improved access to both positive house points and behaviour records through a new portal opening on 11 May. Further information is included elsewhere in the newsletter. I strongly encourage families to make use of this tool—not only to celebrate achievements, but also to have constructive conversations where needed. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support of the campus and our students.
Kind regards,
Greg Mullins
Campus Principal
