Update from the Campus Principal

As we come to the end of a productive and successful first term, I would like to congratulate our students on their outstanding effort, engagement, and positive approach to learning and school life. This has been particularly evident over the past two weeks, as students have worked hard to complete exams and assessments while also preparing for and participating in major campus events, including our Athletics Carnivals. Their commitment, resilience, and positive attitudes during this demanding period have been commendable.

This was clearly on display at our recent Athletics Carnivals, Primary on Tuesday 24 March and Secondary on Wednesday 1 April, where students demonstrated excellent behaviour, strong participation, and genuine sportsmanship. These events were a wonderful celebration of individual athletic achievement and our school community.

Today, we gathered as a campus to officially thank Tom Percasky for his leadership and service as Campus Principal and to acknowledge his appointment as Regional Principal. We also marked my formal welcome into the role of Campus Principal. I am grateful for the warm support shown by students, staff, and families, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with our community.

As we head into the break, I wish all students and families a safe, restful, and enjoyable holiday. I look forward to seeing students refreshed and ready to learn when Term 2 begins on Tuesday 28 April.

Warm regards,

Lincoln Barrett
Campus Principal

Student Recognition

Malachi Hyslop Year 4

Malachi is enjoying being in Year 4 because it offers different challenges every day, such as solving bigger math's problems. Having spelling groups in the morning helps wake everyone up and gets us ready for the day.

My favourite subject is math's because it challenges me with different problem‑solving questions. Starting our primary library has been exciting, as it gives us fresh books to read each week for homework and helps improve our vocabulary and spelling.

I also really enjoyed our excursion to Parliament House and hope we can have at least two excursions each term.

Primary spotlight

Our Primary Swimming Carnival marked the culmination of a term’s hard work in swimming lessons. Students took part in a range of races, choosing strokes that suited their ability and confidence, and showed great effort and improvement in the water. The day included 45 minutes of racing followed by 45 minutes of free time in the big pool, where everyone could relax and enjoy themselves. With beautiful sunny weather and strong support from parents, it was such a fun event! Thank you to all the parents who have helped by driving buses throughout the term—your support makes this important part of our PE program possible.

Our Primary Athletics Carnival on the Sunshine Coast brought together students from the Nambour, Maryborough and Toowoomba campuses for an energetic day of sport and teamwork. All students competed in sprints, shot put, discus and long jump, showing great effort and sportsmanship throughout.

Congratulations to our Brisbane campus champions: Boy and Girl Champions for Year 3, April and Alasko, and Year 5, Brielle and Ezra, and the Boy Champion for Year 6, Ethan. House points were close, with Lions finishing on top with 1191 points, followed by Bears (910) and Mustangs (799). Well done to all involved, and congratulations to Lions House on a fantastic win!

SLT Update

As Term 1 comes to a close, the Student Leadership Team would like to reflect on what has been a fantastic start to the year.

A major highlight of the term was our Green Day, inspired by St Patrick’s Day. The school was a sea of green in the afternoon, with students and staff embracing the theme through creative outfits and enthusiastic participation. It was amazing to see so many people getting involved and contributing to such a fun, inclusive, and spirited afternoon.

Green Day was all about celebrating, positivity, and the school pride. From the vibrant atmosphere to the energy around the school, it was clear that events like this play an important role in bringing everyone together. Thank you to everyone who dressed up, participated, and helped make the day such a success.

Looking ahead to Term 2, the Student Leadership Team is excited to build on this momentum by introducing a range of new initiatives and events designed to keep students engaged and connected.

We encourage all students to get involved, support each other, and make the most of what’s on offer.

Thank you again for a great Term 1—we’re looking forward to an even bigger and better Term 2!

Food Technology

Year 8

The Year 8 students cooked up a spicy storm this week, preparing a Thai green curry! While a few were unsure at first, they were pleasantly surprised by how delicious it turned out. Using a variety of vegetables, students explored how simple ingredients can come together to create a flavour-packed dish.

Next, they will be working in groups to design their own “use it up” recipes, focusing on reducing food waste and making the most of available ingredients.

Year 9 and 10

Year 9 and 10 students have finalised their hamper preserves, focusing on label design, packaging, and experimenting with a variety of sauces, relishes, pickled items, and sweet treats. Well done!

Campus news

On 22 May, all students at OneSchool Global will take part in Mission Nutrition, a full day wellbeing event delivered across all campuses worldwide.

Mission Nutrition helps students understand how food and hydration support energy, focus, health, and learning. The day is interactive and age appropriate, with students working through guided activities led by their teachers.

This is not a normal school day. Students will take part in hands on learning designed to build practical skills they can use at school and at home.

To introduce the event and build excitement, we invite families to watch a short teaser video.

More information will be shared with families in May, including what students will experience on the day.

Mission Nutrition is part of OneSchool Global’s focus on student wellbeing and life skills learning.

Lost Property

Our students are looking wonderful in their new uniforms! With all the new items, we’ve noticed a few hats, jackets and other pieces being misplaced.

To help us return these belongings quickly and easily, we kindly ask that all uniform items are clearly labelled with your child’s name.

Thank you for your support!
