Dear Parents,

As we move further into the term, it has been wonderful to see the continued growth in confidence, and engagement across our campus. One of the great strengths of our school community is the way students, staff and families work together to support learning, wellbeing and opportunity for every student.

Over the past few weeks, our students have continued to demonstrate many of the qualities within our student persona — being diligent, taking ownership and being strong team players, whether in the Learning Centre or during tutorials.

A continued focus across the campus is strengthening our Learning to Learn (L2L) framework. We encourage students to actively use their Assignment calendars, book tutorials regularly and make thoughtful choices about where they learn best within the Learning Centre spaces. The ability for students to manage their learning journey is a skill that will continue to benefit them well beyond school.

Parents can continue to support this process by asking simple questions at home such as:

• What Assignment are you currently working on?
• Have you booked any tutorials this week?
• What are your priorities for Study today?

These conversations help reinforce student ownership and planning habits.

It has also been pleasing to see strong engagement with MAP and IXL learning goals this term. Students are increasingly using feedback and data to identify areas for growth, and staff continue to work hard to personalise learning experiences for students across all stages. We know that improvement comes through consistent effort over time, and we encourage all students to continue striving for progress, not perfection.

Our Student Leadership Team has also been active in supporting campus culture and has met this week with homeroom leaders to talk about this terms major fundraiser/activity day. Their willingness to lead, encourage younger students and contribute positively to campus life is greatly appreciated. Leadership is often shown in small daily actions, and many of our students continue to model this well.

As always, thank you to our staff for their dedication and commitment to supporting students each day. Thank you also to Mrs Howel-Jones and Trent Jensen for holding down the fort whilst I was away.

For those who remember my speech from last years ROE. Roger Federer once reflected that even the world’s best tennis players only win around 54% of the points they play. His message was simple — you will not win every point, but success comes from continuing to move forward with resilience and focus. This is an important reminder for all of us. Growth comes through persistence, reflection and the willingness to keep improving.

It has been another busy and engaging fortnight in our classroom!

In Art, students have been experimenting with a variety of colours and techniques using oil pastels and watercolours and are applying these skills as they prepare for their upcoming assessment.

In Science, we have been exploring the different states of matter, with particular attention on liquids and gases. Students have been highly engaged in hands-on learning experiences, including observing the reaction between Mentos and Coke and designing and launching their own gas-powered rockets.

In History, students have designed and created their own impressive mini museums, showcasing different aspects of Australian history. It has been fantastic to see the creativity, effort, and historical understanding demonstrated through their displays.

We also enjoyed participating in Mission Nutrition Day, where students explored how an understanding of nutrition helps us make healthy choices and support our overall wellbeing. Students complete 3 assignments and a final mission, developing their awareness of balanced diets and the importance of maintaining healthy lifestyles.

Well done to all students for their enthusiasm and hard work over the past two weeks!

An update from our Student Leadership Team

For the past 3 weeks, highschool have been included in a special course, receiving personal tennis training. Each week developing key sport skills, and having fun doing it. Students have built their tennis fundamentals, and have mastered things like the backhand, the volley, and the serve. We all look forward to where this course will take us.

Primary have also recently completed a Lego robotics competition, building their skills and engaging in hands on learning. Congrats, to all the winners!

Stage 5 Technology Timber & Technology Design

Students across Industrial Technology Timber and Technology Design have been hard at work this term, constructing their side table and free choice accessory item.

This week, the class also welcomed a visit from Mr Stanley, who supported the building process and shared valuable insights to help students further develop their practical skills and understanding of safe workshop practices.

Meanwhile, in the upstairs Maker Space, students expanded their design skills by sewing accessory key rings.

Across both learning spaces, students are showing impressive initiative, teamwork, and growing technical ability. Their enthusiasm is evident in every stage of their projects, and we look forward to seeing the finished products proudly displayed.

Campus Community Support (CCS) Program

OSG Armidale Campus is inviting community members to spend a rostered day on campus to support the Campus Community Support (CCS) program. We warmly invite members of our wider community to get involved — including grandparents, uncles, aunts and other family members — in addition to parents.

The role of the CCS is to provide a positive influence for the campus and to support school staff in view of them maintaining and upholding the ethos and values of the community. An important part of the CCS role is to be seen but not interfering, on the alert and helpful to the staff and students at all times.

Community Campus Support (CCS) personnel must complete the Volunteer Induction including a valid Working with Children Check.

Staff are thankful for your support! Your presence will be noticed by the students, and it will have an effect. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Travers.
