NAPLAN

NAPLAN (National Assessment Program in Literacy and Numeracy) is an annual assessment for Australian students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9, testing foundational skills in reading, writing, conventions of language and numeracy. Conducted this week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday during Period 1 and 2, it provides a snapshot of student progress against national standards. Students do not need to study they just need to do their best on the day.

Senior Goal Setting

Our senior teachers Mrs Burdon, Mr Collimore and Mrs Clifton will be completing and encouraging our senior students to set Subject and ATAR goals. The quality of the initial goal setting is critical to ensuring the program works effectively and provides meaningful data. I encourage all parents to spend some time with their child to discuss these goals. Looking at previous results, subject teacher feedback, Tutorial booking engagement and overall engagement levels are all indicative of potential achievement.

Campus Quality Rubric

As we continue to strive towards improving our global CQR ranking don’t forget how you can contribute through Stakeholder Engagement. We are aiming for 100% observation of CANVAS, Sentral and weekly SDM checks. We will hold our annual Winter Evening in Term 2 where students will showcase their achievements and goals, but in the interim, here are some questions that may spark dinner table conversation. The goal of the conversation is to encourage ownership, initiative and reflection.

  • What learning choice did you make today that you’re proud of?
  • How did you manage your learning time today? What worked well?
  • Was there a moment when you realised you needed help — and how did you solve it?
  • What goal were you working on today, and how far did you get?
  • If you could redo one part of your day, what would you do differently?

Some important notes from Primary...

  • All students are explicitly instructed to cease and desist from taking, saving, or sharing screenshots/snips of classmates or lesson content. Any further incident will be recorded and actioned as a Major breach under the Discipline Policy due to the direct impact on learning engagement and student wellbeing. This is non‑negotiable and will be enforced consistently across all classes and campuses.
  • We are collecting empty thick plastic paint buckets to practice beats in Music/Choir.
  • Year 3 and 5 students will sit NAPLAN this week and next week. Students don’t need to study for NAPLAN; just do their best on the day. NAPLAN will take place in the Science Lab with the secondary students also completing the tests.
  • Writing 11/03
  • Reading 12/03
  • Conventions of Language 13/03
  • Numeracy 17/03
  • Athletics Carnival will be held in Griffith on Friday 27 March. We will depart at 6:30am and return at 6pm. Students to wear house colour shirts and matching bucket hats. No other hat is to be worn. There are to be no lollies or electronic devices/games on the bus. Students are welcome to pack a book, or a quiet activity they can do on the bus.
  • Read regularly at home and talk about the books. Library borrowing sessions have commenced.
  • Access your child's Canvas page via OnePortal to see what they've been learning this week.

Certificate III in Business: A Key Part of Year 10 at OSG

At OneSchool Global AU, all Year 10 students complete the Certificate III in Business as part of their curriculum. This qualification equips students with practical skills in administration, communication, and workplace technology - essential tools for success in senior study, part-time work, and future careers.

Completing the Certificate III in Business helps students develop confidence, organisation, and a professional mindset. It provides a real-world context for learning and gives every student a head start in understanding the business world.

We are proud to offer this program as a core part of Year 10, ensuring all students gain these valuable skills and are prepared for the next stage of their education and beyond. Students who complete all requirements will be awarded the national qualification - Certificate III in Business. Students who are only able to complete part of the qualification will still receive a statement of attainment, providing credit for the units they do achieve.

Your encouragement at home can make a real difference. We encourage parents to support their young person by discussing their learning, celebrating achievements, and encouraging them to apply the skills they are developing. Together, we can help every student succeed and make the most of this valuable qualification.

Javelin has not featured in the Athletics Carnival for several years now, so it was a great opportunity last Friday to brush off the cobwebs and learn some new skills with Mr Collimore. We cannot wait to see Albury students in action in a few weeks. Here are Levanna and Reagen honing their technique!
