Over the past two weeks, our campus has been buzzing with learning, collaboration, and community spirit. It has been wonderful to see so many initiatives take shape and to celebrate the efforts of both students and staff.

Our Student Leadership Team (SLT) continues to make a meaningful impact on campus. They have been working hard on their Learning to Learn goals, producing engaging student resources and presenting these at a recent Assembly.

Their leadership also shone during a very successful sausage sizzle fundraiser, which brought plenty of smiles and was the perfect way to celebrate a busy week. A big thank‑you to the SLT for your organisation, enthusiasm, and teamwork!

We are incredibly proud of our students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9, who completed their first round of NAPLAN testing. These assessments require focus, resilience, and a positive mindset—and our students approached each session with maturity and determination. Well done to all involved for your hard work and persistence.

A number of physical improvements have been made around the campus to support wellbeing and flexible learning zones. A new standing bench has been installed in the Secondary Learning Centre, offering students an alternative workspace that supports movement and focus. We also welcomed new dividers in the Independent Learning Zone, creating a more functional and purposeful environment for independent study.

We’d also like to acknowledge the launch of our refreshed AU newsletter template, helping us share campus news with families in a clearer and more engaging way!

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we have recently introduced a new initiative called CARE – Constant Asking and Responding Evaluation. CARE surveys collect feedback from students, student leaders, and representatives, helping us build a school culture that is positive, responsive, and student‑centred. We believe this approach strengthens wellbeing, engagement, and the overall learning experience for every child. While parents are not directly involved in the survey process, we want to keep you informed of the steps we are taking to listen to and elevate student voice.

The new flag roster is now displayed around the school. Each year level will take turns throughout the term, with three students responsible for raising and lowering the flag each day. Homeroom teachers will accompany their groups, and the roster will rotate weekly.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our recent sausage sizzle. Across the last two events, we raised $238.05. Great effort, everyone.

Today, on the 16th of March 2026 at OSG Adelaide, Mr. Spargo, our science teacher, brought in his bagpipes and played it for our class (and a few others watching) on the oval, in our music lesson.

He started off by filling the bags with air and squeezing the bag to make the air come out in a drone. After that he used the chanter to make the tune come to life in a jolly good performance.

A little bit of tuning and deep breaths later he got into the rhythm and started playing Maggie Duncan, Highland Cathedral, Sandy New Charter, Scotland Brave and Amazing Grace on the bagpipes. My favourite bit was when we all joined in and sang along to Amazing Grace. It shocked me how loud it was and how hard it looked to play it.

At the end we all clapped and cheered and wished it kept on going. He came inside and he told us what the bagpipes were made of and the classification that they come under, Aerophone. He also told us that he hadn’t played them for 2 years! He told us that the bagpipes were his family pipes that were 150 years old and started when he was in year 7. He also said that it requires circular breathing, like didgeridoo and that they used to use bagpipes on the battle fields to show when to attack and when to retreat.

After that he put the bagpipes together and left us all in awe and wishing for him to play again. I highly recommend hearing someone play the bagpipes as it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Strengthening safety across our global bus network - global webinar screening next Tuesday

Next Tuesday, OneSchool Global will launch Precious Cargo, a new global safety campaign for all volunteer bus drivers across our school. This campaign centres on a powerful safety film that highlights the real risks our drivers face every day - fatigue, distractions, speed, seatbelts, and substances. The film will be screened via a global webinar at 7.30pm local time.

The film is confronting by design and reinforces the non‑negotiable expectations we hold for every driver, in every region. You can watch a preview of the film here.

We encourage all households to register for this important global webinar screening at 7:30pm Tuesday 24 March.

The webinar is mandatory viewing for all OSG bus drivers.
